I do not want to sign-up for the paid postage vendors like stamps.com so was wondering if there is an alternative solution to to printing self-adhesive postage labels. Currently i am printing labels on regular paper via the USPS "click-n-ship" feature but the labels come out too big and does not fit on the the boxes i’m trying to ship. Anyone can shed some light on this? Thanks!
i have paypal already and the postmaster told me when shrinking the labels they dont work on the postal services standarized bar coding system so thats not an option.
www.pitneyworks.co.uk This short video demonstrates the benefits of the Pitney Bowes DM50 franking machine. The DM50 franking machine, with its built-in scale, lets you weigh your items and calculates the postage for you at the touch of a button. You’ll pay the exact postage every time. And you can even print a promotional message and/or return address on every envelope you send. By using a Pitney Bowes DM50 franking machine you’ll increase productivity and reduce postage costs. Remember, you can save up to 11% of your mailing costs by switching to franked mail. As of April 2009 franking machine users pay substantially less for every item they send.
I just returned back from the Post Office, and quite frankly, I’m confused and upset at the bad customer service. The prior day, I had went to the same Post office, and had a medium-sized envelope package shipped within the US. It was a book return. I was charged and something max. I am not quite sure how it was shipped (i.e. Priority mail, first-class, etc). But the guy did not state anything about any postage for the envelope. And i was not charged for any postage. So i just paid, and off to home I went. Today, just having arrived home from the same Post office. I purchased another medium-sized envelope and placed a small book inside to be shipped. This new guy, very unfriendly might I add, rang me up, and then asked if I needed any insurance, delivery confirmation, etc. All I asked was a simple question, "Does the package require postage to be shipped?" And he seemed confused and made me feel dumb. It may have been a dumb question to be honest. But before this day and the last, I have never shipped anything from a post office, so I am not familiar with the whole process. Of course, I know you must have your return address and their shipping address, and stamps and all, but that process I’m only familiar with letters. I was charged for priority mail, which i said to do whatever was regular, now I wish I had stated to do whatever was the cheapest option. That too, I’m unfamiliar with, the different shipping options and names. My total this time was .59. Really expensive, for the exact same thing I did purchased yesterday, minus the priority option he chose himself to charge me, and the postage I was charged this time. What really is causing all my confusion is the question, why did the first guy the previous day, not state anything about any postage and did not charge me, and today, I was charged for that. Both packages were shipped in the US. Do all packages need postage? Now I fear my first package will be returned back to me because of the lack of postage? If the employees are aware, that a package will not ship without postage, why would they not tell the customer, and state clearly that they would need postage for the shipment to ship? Why offer it? Is it absolutely necessary?
Sorry for the long detail. I’m just very confused. But this is my last time going there. Until I get some answers.
